Share and share alike, the Dutch inhabit the southern half of the island and, beside from pronouncing the name somewhat different than their French neighbours (St. Martin), everyone gets along fine. Sint Maarten is the site of the international airport that services the entire island. As well, they have developed most of the shopping and nightlife that has made the island such a popular destination. And in what must be one of the most co-operative international ventures ever imagined, there are no customs or checkpoints between the two island partners.
